Listing puts you in search and on your city's page. It is optional and reversible from Settings, under Getting found.
Switching it off does not affect your own booking page, your existing clients, or anything you have already set up. It only removes you from the public directory.
Professionals who are fully booked sometimes switch it off deliberately, and that is a reasonable use of it rather than a failure state.
